Dorothea Wierer, a five-time IBU World Junior Champion has matured into the top-ranked female biathlete in the world, winning the Women’s World Cup Total Score in two consecutive seasons, 2018/19 and 2019/20. Wierer’s trajectory to biathlon prominence took flight when she won an Olympic Mixed Relay Bronze medal with her Italian teammates at the Sochi Olympic Winter Games. The following season, she added her first two BMW IBU World Cup podiums and an IBU WCH Mixed Relay Bronze medal. Three victories in the 2015/16 season and an IBU WCH Women’s 15 km Silver medal took her to the next level and third place in the World Cup Total Score. Since that time, the cheerful Italian has added 31 more individual podiums including 11 victories to her resume. The 2020 IBU World Championships in her home Südtirol Arena were the crowning glory of the most successful season in her career. Under intense fan and media pressure, she won two IBU WCH titles in the 15 km individual and pursuit, while also winning Mass Start and Mixed Relay Silver medals.

Wierer is known for her extremely fast shooting cadence, gritty competitiveness, big personality and love of good food and fun.
