Lisa Vittozzi has been a rising biathlon star since her earliest days in the sport. She won five IBU YWCH medals including two Gold medals in 2013 and 2014. The next season she jumped to the BMW IBU World Cup and has been there ever since. Vittozzi won her first senior IBU WCH medal as part of the Bronze medal women’s relay in 2015. The Pyeongchang Olympic Winter Games found her again on the podium, with an Olympic Mixed Relay Bronze medal around her neck. Those Games were a stepping stone to her first World Cup podiums a few weeks later in Kontiolahti, third in the sprint and second in the mass start. The 2018/19 season found Vittozzi at an even higher plateau, taking her first World Cup victories, a sprint/pursuit double in Oberhof. She added four more podiums including her first individual IBU World Championships medal (15 km individual Silver) while battling with teammate Dorothea Wierer for the World Cup Total Score title until the closing days of the season. She won the World Cup Individual Score title that season for her first discipline crystal globe. Vittozzi struggled in the 2019/20 season, finishing 10th in the World Cup Total Score but managed to end the winter with two podiums and an IBU WCH Mixed Relay Silver medal in her home stadium at Antholz.
