IBU Verdict against Ekaterina Glazyrina Now Legally Binding

Salzburg; June 21, 2018: The International Biathlon Union has been informed by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) regarding a Termination Order by the President of the CAS Appeals Arbitration Division concerning CAS case 2018/A/5752: Ekaterina Glazyrina vs. International Biathlon Union.

Ms. Glazyrina (RUS) has officially withdrawn her appeal of the decision made by the IBU Anti-Doping Hearing Panel on April 24, 2018.

IBU Acting Secretary-General Martin Kuchenmeister said, “The verdict by the IBU Anti-Doping Hearing Panel against Ms. Glazyrina is now legally binding and enforceable. This shows that our anti-doping program is working effectively. It also proves the efficiency of the IBU Independent Working Group, which investigated voluminous data from the McLaren reports and the information from the Laboratory Information Management System database revealed by the World Anti-Doping Agency.”

In April, the IBU Anti-Doping Hearing Panel rendered the following decision in accordance with article 8.2.1 of the IBU Anti-Doping Rules (IBU ADR):

1. Ms. Ekaterina Glazyrina of Russia is guilty of an anti-doping rule violation for “use” of a prohibited substance, according to the Article 2.2. IBU ADR.

2. Ms. Ekaterina Glazyrina is ineligible to compete for a period of 2 years from the date of this decision, 24 April 2018, with the period of the provisional suspension already served credited.*

3. All competitive results obtained by Ms. Ekaterina Glazyrina in the competitions she participated in from December 19, 2013, through February 10, 2017, are disqualified with all resulting consequences for medals, points, and prizes.

*The IBU Executive Board provisionally suspended Ms. Ekaterina Glazyrina on February 10, 2017, during the 2017 IBU Biathlon World Championships in Hochfilzen, Austria, following a recommendation made by the IBU Independent Working Group, which evaluated data from the second McLaren Report and information from the Moscow Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
