New IBU Ethics Commission meets for first time

The newly formed IBU Ethics Commission met at the BMW IBU World Cup in Ruhpolding for the first time to discuss and monitor good governance and ethical compliance within the federation.

The meeting was attended by Commission members Dr. Jan STOVICEK (CZE), Dr. Sylvia SCHENK (GER) and Juha VIERTOLA (FIN). As it was the first time the Commission had met, IBU Acting Secretary General Martin Kuchenmeister was present to provide an overview of the IBU rule system, inform them about administrative issues and integrate them into the constitution review group system.

The Commission was established as part of the amended Code of Ethics which was adopted at the IBU Congress in September 2018. The new Code of Ethics, which is aligned with international best practice and includes a whistleblower policy, stipulated that the Ethics Commission should be independent to ensure impartiality.

Under IBU President Olle Dahlin’s leadership, the IBU is committed to operating under the highest standards of integrity and good governance. The Ethics Commission is critical to independently monitoring the federation and ensuring the high standards set are met.
